Mayo has plenty of activities to keep children of all ages busy and having fun while on holidays - visitor attractions, family-oriented festivals, blue flag beaches, activities and playgrounds.
Day visitor attractions such as pet farms and activity centres are abundant throughout the region, and museums and heritage centres have activities specially designed to appeal to children.
You could also time your family's visit to coincide with one of the festivals in Ireland's West. Two festivals are just for kids – they are Baboró International Arts Festival for Children in Galway City and the Roola Boola Children’s Arts Festival in Castlebar, both of which take place in October each year.
Arts festivals throughout the region are also great fun for families, and most feature a children's programme to appeal to all ages.
